There is a badge of honor among journalists. To earn the badge you have to attend two World Cup matches in one day. Here at my 4th WC I finally achieved that honor as I watched both USA/Algeria at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria and Germany/Ghana at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
The late match wasn't exactly a spectacle however the early match was something special. A late, late, late Landon Donovan winner was needed to save the USA from falling out of the tournament as basically they went from the plane home to Group C winners. It was the kind of finish that everybody dreams about but rarely is lucky enough to see.
With England also winning 1-0 the 2nd round is set with the USA taking on Ghana while England get...Germany!
